The OTA (The Old Tamensians’ Association) was first formed in 1909 as a means of maintaining the esprit de corps that existed at the school. During the late 1800s there had been an Association of Old Boys but that had petered out. On the 10th March 1908, eighteen old boys met at the Holborn Restaurant, London. They included the then current headmaster Dr Shaw, three former masters, three of the four Kislingburys, four of the five Sims, G.E. Shrimpton and E.L. Stroud. The OTA was formally established at the beginning of 1909. Within a few weeks of its inception the membership stood at 45. Since then, it has continued to thrive, thousands have joined, and today it is a flourishing Association open to everyone who has studied at or been on the staff of LWS.
