President/ Chairman / Committee Secretary 1971-72

Bridget Trueman nee Thompson 1971-72

President/ Chairman / Committee Secretary etc (year 2 of 4): Years: 1971-1972, first year of comprehensive education at LWS. I was the first head girl

Bio: I retired as Head of Inclusion on October 31st 2014 from a large comprehensive school, with a department of about 26 teaching assistants and other wonderful support staff. I sew in various forms, make semi-precious jewellery, exercise with dance, cycling, walking, gym and swim when available; and cook. I keep in touch with all 4 of my siblings, two of whom attended LWS.

Your memories at LWS: I went to LWS to study languages and also did extra science with the amazing teachers there – I remember Mr Good, Mr Lilley and Mr Brookes very clearly. It was an eye-opener to me to use radioactive materials at LWS, not something I had done during ‘A’ levels.

How has your time at LWS influenced you since leaving? I have a much wider group of friends – and thus support system – than I would otherwise have had, compared with not having joined LWS. Even though it was for a relatively short time span.

What advice would you give LWS students now? Organise your time – revise and work sensibly, play sport and relax. Learn how to make a spreadsheet of your money and live within your income.
