biology teacher 1975 - 1982

Bio:My family moved to Chinnor from Haddenham in 1963, the year I was born.  My elder siblings Steve, Cathy, Julian and Nic all went through the local secondary school system in its various guises (LWS Grammar, The Wenman School and LW Comp.) and our mum Margaret worked in the kitchens at Upper School.  I started at LSE in 1975, going on to complete A levels in biology, chemistry and English under the tutelage of Mssrs Brookes, Good and Adams.  They were three of many great teachers I had at school and I followed them into the profession.  In the last thirty years I have worked in various UK, African, Iberian and Asian schools and today can be found teaching biology in an independent school in Maidenhead.

I was a handy ‘jack-of-all-trades’ sportsman at school and represented LSE and LWUS in a number of disciplines including football, tennis, cricket and rugby, commencing my 1st XV tenure at fly-half on the infamous Lord Willams’s School tour to Devon in 1981.  Notice the missing ‘i’?  DCJ didn’t either until the sweatshirts were already printed!

I have spent many years on committee, sometimes as President, or Chairman, or as sports coordinator for OTs matches.  I am married to Jan, another OT (the trumpeter Janet Rowe as she was known at school) and we have three girls – Jess, Beth and Amy – all of whom have passed through the school in the last 14 years with Amy completing her Year 13 studies in lockdown last year.
